Types of Dirt and Mud Stains

The first thing you need to think about when dealing with dirt and mud stain removal is the type of dirt or mud you’re dealing with. Dirt refers to the earth’s soil. It’s dry and can most often be wiped off before it becomes a stain. Mud, on the other hand, is a mixture of dirt and water. This stains more easily.

A third type of dirt is red dirt, or clay. This has a reddish tint to it and may be wet or dry.

Remove Mud and Dirt Stains: Step by Step

  1. Choose a from the range of Dynamo Professional Liquids
  2. Use a soft brush to remove the loose dirt on dried stains
  3. Pre-treat with some Dynamo Professional liquid detergent, if necessary
  4. Wash the clothing at the highest temperature possible that is safe for the fabric
  5. Check if the stain is gone
  6. Repeat the process if necessary

Choose a Detergent and Stain Remover

For the wash cycle, opt for Dynamo Professional Liquid. Dirt and mud stains mainly consists of solid pigments, where a pre-treatment with a liquid detergent combined with brushing can help to remove stubborn stains. Fine fabrics require special care, so use a sensitive detergent in this case.

Pre-Treat the Stain

Unlike with other stains, you’re going to want to let the mud dry out completely. Remove excess dirt with a soft brush, then apply a small amount of Dynamo Professional Liquid directly onto the stain, gently rub or brush it in and let it sit for a few minutes. Wash your clothing as usual. If the stain is particularly stubborn or old, let the fabric soak in a mixture of your chosen detergent and water for at least two hours.

Wash and Rinse

Wash the fabrics in the highest possible wash temperature as recommended by the manufacturer on the garment label. Use the ‘heavily soiled’ dosage as indicated on the detergent package.

Check the Stain

Before you toss the clothing in the dryer, check to make sure the stain is completely gone. If it isn’t, repeat the pre-treatment, soaking and washing.

How to Get Dirt and Mud Stains Out of Special Laundry Types and Fabrics

Delicate fabrics like wool, silk or dry-clean only fabrics require extra care. For red mud stain removal or dirt stain removal of washable delicate fabrics, use a sensitive detergent and hand wash your shirts, socks or pants. Soaking for about two hours is advisable too, to get rid of resistant dirt and mud stains.

If the garment label says dry-clean only, leave it to the professionals to prevent additional damage.

Cotton and polyester-blend fabrics are durable and can be washed and dried at almost any temperature without having to worry about damage or shrinkage.
